Kathirikai Puli Kulambu



This is my first blog. I have created this blog to have future reference for the recipes which i am preparing now.

I have prepared this for lunch menu for office box. Ok, lets see the steps to prepare this recipe.

Ingredients:

1. Oil - Nalyennai(Gingelly oil) - 3tspns
2. Kadugu(Mustard)  - thalika
3. Karuvepilai (Curry leaves) - few
4. Puli (Tamarind) - small lemon size
5. Poondu parkal (Garlic cloves) - 10
6. Kathirikai (Brinjal) - 3
7. Chinna vengayam (small onions) - 12
8. Thakali (tomato) - 2
9. Achi kulambi podi - 3tsps
10. Salt
Preparation:
1. Cut brinjal into small pieces and fry it in 1tsp of oil till it becomes soft and keep aside.
2. Soak tamarind in water and extract the juice.
3. Put oil (2tsps) and once it becomes hot, add mustard.
4. Wait till the mustard breaks. Add curry leaves wait till the nice flavor comes.
5. Add Garlic cloves and fry for few seconds.
6. Add small onions fry till it becomes transparent.
7. Add tomatoes and fry till it becomes soft. Add salt
8. Add Achi Kulambu podi (if achi is not available, can add any kulabu podi) and fry for few seconds
9. Add fried brinjal to this and fry for few minutes by adding little water.
10. Add tamarind juice and add 3 cups of water. (for 1cup of juice - 3 cups of water)
11. Keep in high flame till water boils and comes to half.
12. Keep in sim and wait till the gravy becomes thick.
13. Once the gravy is thick, remove from flame.
14. Have this with hot rice!!!!
